Process
First, I'd like to apologize to my readers for the lack of posts. The last few weeks have been incredibly tough, and I had to focus all my remaining energy on what was happening on the ground. As some of you know, I was working in a restaurant, and honestly, I didn't expect it to become the hardest part of my entire trip and, indeed, of my entire professional life. It was simply too much for me to even consider writing blog posts.
What happened?
For roughly 60 days, I was humiliated practically every single day. This further strained my already limited ability to concentrate (I'll never do kitchen jobs again, as I only experience this problem in that environment), because I tried to keep it from getting to me too much.
Since I was no longer considered capable of surviving or even welcome, I left without their knowledge. It takes a lot of courage to be able to free yourself from such a toxic situation.
Where was the restaurant?
Not written due to GDPR regulations.
What helped me persevere for so long?
Mentally recalling positive conversations!
Remembering what I've already achieved!
Finding joy in the little things!
(Surprising messages, a smile from strangers, pleasant conversations with strangers)
Appreciating myself more
Recognizing small successes, even if no one else does.
Next time, I'll share tips for working abroad and how things are going for me now.
