Moving On!
In the first week after the outbreak, I worked at a winery that had table grapes for eating. However, since I was never really motivated, and I didn't feel welcome from the very first afternoon, I moved on relatively quickly. This host was the shortest WWOOF host I've ever had, and at six days, it's hard to beat.
My current host is the best I could have found in Nova Scotia, and it's been a huge relief after the intense two months. I felt comfortable from the start, treated like part of the family, not like a worthless person.
Tips for working abroad:
Never, under any circumstances, agree to work illegally. You'll lose out.
Inform yourself about the applicable laws.
Don't get ripped off.
Personal tip:
If you don't feel welcome, get up from the table and leave. You don't need people like that. (Believe me, I know damn well how hard this is.)
Find out about the company where you want to work.
Plans change very quickly. Whether travel plans or life plans.
