First WWOOF!
How am I doing? Pretty good. I’m happy that I’m on the bison farm. The people are quite cool. I just have to hope for better weather because I’m sleeping in a trailer and it’s poorly insulated. Overall, I quite like the work.
What does WWOOF mean: Worldwide work on organic and ecological farms. Usually in exchange for food and accommodation.
Note:
Every WWOOF is different and has different tasks or animals on the farm. These texts are only meant to give an impression of life as a WWOOFer.
Tasks:
Digging holes for new tree seedlings so that a new forest can grow again. Repairing fences after they were damaged by moose jumping over them. Preparing dinner for the bison and putting it into their feeding troughs.
Tips for future Work and Travellers:
Find out where you will be sleeping.
Communicate what you like and what you do not like.
Inform yourself about life in the area. How far it is to the next town and what you can do on your days off.
Highlights of the week:
1. Seeing eagles from very close.
2. Seeing moose in their natural environment.
3. Being able to observe bison up close.
