Register for WHV Part 1
In this article, I describe the application process for the Working Holiday Visa (WHV) in Canada – based on my own experiences.
The most up-to-date and authoritative information can always be found on the official website of the Canadian government: https://www.canada.ca/en/services/immigration-citizenship.html
The aim of this article is to give you a concise overview – as an introduction and guide.
1. Do you really want to take this step?
Before you start the application process, I recommend asking yourself honestly whether a longer stay in Canada is really right for you. In a previous blog series, I wrote in detail about my own motives and also about the questions that may arise at this stage – perhaps this will help you in your decision-making process.
2. Which programme is right for you?#
IEC(International Experience Canada) offers various visa programmes:
Working Holiday (WHV): You are allowed to travel and work without being tied to a specific employer.
Young Professional: This visa is linked to a specific job offer.
As I personally applied for the WHV, I will only describe this process in this article.
Part 2 will come on 17.10.
