Olympics 26 Milano & Cortina

My dear readers, since I will be involved in the Olympic Games before starting my Work and Travel journey, I would like to dedicate my next blog posts to volunteering. First, I am writing about a few things that many people do not know about Olympic volunteering.

FACT 1: Volunteers work for free for external corporations.
No, everything runs through the registration platform of the Olympic organizers. My personal view is that you are an Olympic volunteer so that you can experience this once. You get to know a lot of new people who are all involved with joy. Even if it rains continuously for 10 days, a good atmosphere among each other is ensured, because everyone is in the same boat and you yourself cannot change anything about it. You get clothes and other things for free that others can only dream of. Requests asking whether I sell any of it can be spared, as I have signed that I do not sell anything and I also stick to that. During the shifts you get substantial food. And you see places that you would not get to see so quickly as a regular spectator. And you also meet one or the other athlete if you are in the respective area.

FACT 2: You sleep together in schools and gym halls.
No, absolutely not true. At all international major events so far, I have only slept in schools once. And even there, care was taken that no more than 8 people were in one room. Olympic volunteers are not provided with accommodation and you mainly look for it on Airbnb and Booking.com. The flight is also not paid for and has to be organized by yourself.
