Flatland!
I'm doing well. The weather is finally unspectacular again, just rain and sun.
There also wasn't a softball game to watch this week for the first time. I'm also very grateful that I've had some pretty cool hosts over the past four months. The most frustrating thing was the snow in Whitehorse at the beginning of May and the resulting flight cancellation for early May. Luckily, I got a refund for the flight to Regina at the beginning of June that I had booked first. So, I can say the first part of the trip went pretty well.
Saskatchetwan:
This province is about eight times the size of Austria, but has only 1.2 million inhabitants.
There are now more forests than before the time of the first Europeans, when bison roamed the area and prevented the trees from growing. The indigenous people also followed them for hunting.
At the end of the 19th century, German and Eastern European settlers were actively recruited to farm the prairies, as the climate is extremely harsh, with blizzards, dust storms, and tornadoes.
The province's highest point is 1300 m, which is about 400 m higher than the Geschriebenstein in Burgenland.
You can already look forward to next week!
