Doubts before the Start Part 3

You might be wondering: why is there still a blog if I had already decided against it? The answer is simple: it wasn’t over yet.

Within just two days of deciding not to fly and even canceling my travel insurance, I found myself mentally preparing for the possibility of taking a break in a few years.

I spoke with two colleagues I deeply respect, asking them if they had the chance to live in a completely different country for a year, would they take it. Both answered without hesitation: absolutely, yes. One of them had once wanted to go to America as an au pair but gave it up for the sake of her then-boyfriend. For me, things are completely different – in the near future, I won’t have a partner who could hold me back.

That conversation also reminded me of two more points in favor of taking a break: first, I will remain an important part of the ski jumping scene both before and after such a break. Second, I could return to my current job if the opportunity arises.
