School Part 2!
Today we're talking about secondary education in Canada: colleges and universities.
Colleges: These are practical schools, somewhat comparable to vocational schools, that prepare students for jobs in trades, tourism, and commerce. Colleges work closely with companies to provide work experience, while internships or vocational training programs last from one to three years.
Universities: These focus more on education, studies, and research. Students can earn a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree. This usually takes longer than college programs.
Special features:
Universities are definitely not free. If you want to study, you may have to pay up to CAD 80,000 for tuition, housing, and books for the entire duration of your studies. And this can vary depending on the program.
Sports play a very important role in all aspects of school life, especially in secondary schools.
Student fraternities and sororities are not as prevalent as in the USA; students are more organized around sports and university clubs.
