Horses!

How I’m doing:
Pretty good! On Wednesday I saw rain for the first time since Nanaimo. And on my first day of work I already had my first ride on a horse, which I hope won’t be the last one. About my glasses, which have quite a scratch, I can get the lenses replaced, which makes me pretty happy, especially because I won’t have many options to do that in Whitehorse. Regarding Whitehorse, I’m just hoping that my flights there and back won’t change again. One part of my planned return flight got cancelled, so I had to book a new one, which luckily was still cheap.

Interesting facts:
In Canada, many forest fires start because of lightning and people. A lightning strike can easily start a fire in the huge forest areas, but also carelessness like campfires or cigarettes plays a big role.
Another reason is the climate. In summer it is often very hot and dry, and sometimes it doesn’t rain for weeks. Because of that, forests dry out and catch fire very easily.
In addition, there are many coniferous forests, which burn very well because of their resin and spread fire quickly. That’s why fires often spread so fast there.

Highlights:
    1. First ride on a horse
    2. First rain in a long time
